Best time to take your pregnancy test

by Wellify Developer

Having the first pregnancy test is a nerve-wracking experience.. No matter what result you expect, an early test can be a quick way to determine pregnancy. Unfortunately, not all at-home pregnancy tests are 100% accurate. Sometimes they may give negative results even if you are pregnant. So, it is crucial to perform the test at the right time. It will maximize your chances of getting an accurate result. You should consider many things to determine if it is time to take a pregnancy test.

A few things to keep in mind while taking a home pregnancy test:

Period Cycle

Usually, people take a home pregnancy test with a kit when they experience unexpected delays in the menstrual cycle. Although a delayed period is not always necessarily a case of conception, taking a test is a way to confirm it. But then, you should wait until you have passed the longest period cycle. If, for instance, your cycle ranges from 30 to 36 days, the 37th day would be the best time to test your pregnancy.

Type of pregnancy tests

There are a variety of home pregnancy test kits out there. It’s your preference which one you like or trust most. There are also quick-check pregnancy test kits that give instant results, while others make you wait for a few minutes.

Time of the day

That’s right. The time of the day matters too. The morning time is the best time to get the best results for your at-home pregnancy test. The first time you pee in the morning is the best time to take the test as it provides the most accurate results. The at-home pregnancy tests check your hCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) in the urine. The hCG in the body is high during the pregnancy period, which helps determine if you are pregnant or not.

False negative/False positive results have the chance of being wrong

The at-home pregnancy test with a kit checks the amount of hCG in the urine to determine the pregnancy. Remember that other reasons may also cause a hike in hCG counts in your body.

Early signs of pregnancy

Many early pregnancy symptoms may suggest you should take a pregnancy test. Some of them are breast tenderness, frequent urination, fatigue, sensitivity to smells, morning nausea, metallic taste, and headaches. These symptoms also occur when you are down with a cold or the flu. If you are experiencing the symptoms above with a late period cycle, you may take an early pregnancy test with a home pregnancy test kit.

Blood tests

It is advisable to take a blood test and consult your gynaecologist if your period is late by many days and the at-home pregnancy test kits still give you a negative result. Blood tests can provide accurate results if you are pregnant or if some other issues have triggered the symptoms.

If you are planning to have a baby and are excited to know if you are pregnant or not, you can trust i-Can pregnancy kit to give you an answer. It contains one single-use pregnancy test strip, which has 1 test device and 1 disposable dropper. You can perform this test as early as the 6th day after having unprotected sex. However, to obtain the best results, you should perform the I-can test on the day of the missed period or later. Make sure you collect your first urine sample to perform this test. It provides the results in 3-5 minutes and is 99% accurate.
